SensaBRAKE Electro/AIR/Hydraulic System

The Electronic /Air/ Hydraulic Actuator takes an input from a standard in cab brake controller as a 0 to 12 volt input. This powers the integral air compressor filling the integral reservoir converting into a variable hydraulic pressure output by a two step process . The input is fed to a microcontroller that applies proportional air pressure to a piston --this piston in turn applies force on a master cylinder. The master cylinder provides pressure to the brake . The brakes translate this pressure to a mechanical braking force in the trailer.

When in the relaxed state the hydraulic fluid returns to the master cylinder reservoir to be ready for the next brake application.  The fact that a head of air is held on the actuator awaiting control electronic signal from the tow enables a fast emphatic brake application ---probably the fastest.

The SensaBRAKE contains an integral air compressor and reservoir. Because of the stored energy in the compressed air reservoir it enables emergency or breakaway protection without need for the battery. Upon loss of power the Sensabrake goes into emergency and applies the brakes at maximum. There is a blow down valve enabling brake release and movement of the trailer without power.

The in cab controllers are explained here controller types
